Growing Lettuce in a vertical garden

Crisp and tasty, easy and fast growing, lettuce is a staple in gardens around the world.
There are dozens of varieties to choose from, including smaller compact varieties
perhaps better suited to vertical gardens. Garden lettuce is a cool weather lover, but
needs full sun, regular watering and a nutrient-rich soil to thrive. It is best planted in
early spring after the frosts, or in winter in warmer, frost-free climates. Its foliage will
quickly become bitter if subjected to hot weather, where it will also begin to bolt.
